Founder: Motohiro Nakahara
Motohiro Nakahara, Ph.D. has served as our president and CEO since June 2003. He previously served as an executive director of NTT Electronics Corporation from April 1993 to June 2003, and was responsible for the commercialization of photonic components such as planar lightwave circuits, optical amplifiers, DFB lasers, and photo detectors. Prior to join NTT Electronics Corp., he was a research engineer in Electrical Communication Laboratories of NTT from April 1969 and engaged in development of single crystal growth of BaTiO3, optical fiber drawing techniques, VAD preform fabrication method, AWG, splitters, and the fiber attachment of the PLC chips using with fiber arrays.
Dr. Nakahara holds a Ph.D. in Physics in 1976 from Kyushu University (JPN), and an M.S. and a B.S. from Kyushu University, in 1966, and 1969, respectively.
He is a member of OSA, Japan Society of Applied Physics, and The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.
He received the Institute of Electronics, Communication and Information Engineers Achievement Award in 1982, the Science and Technology Agency's Notable Invention Selection Award in 1987, and the Okochi Memorial Technology Prize in 2000. He received the Telecommunications Association's ICT Business Encouragement Special Award in 2002.
